Introduction: Welcome to my Dream! In this story, I’m sharing a moment the Lord placed on my heart—one that reminded me how powerful forgiveness is and how gently God leads us back to Him. Through Scripture and reflection, I invite you to step into this dream with me and see what Jesus may be saying for your own walk today.
I have had times in my life that seem to be pivotal moments that change the future journey with someone. Sometimes I don’t notice that the moment I’m in is THAT moment. Or, I don't notice until I’m all in it or maybe after. It could be true that there were some I didn’t notice at all. Maybe I wasn’t paying attention or maybe because it was a moment for the person I was with. Nothing happens to just us. All existence is about “we”. Since I love you, when something happens to you, whether you become happy or sad, I too am happy or sad. The view is mine, but the experience is “we”.
When I was growing up and needed to be corrected there was usually a paddle involved. Really it was a board but for the sake of argument we will call it a paddle. This correction created a level of fear, and I wasn't the only one who felt it. This experience happened to me mostly but my sister, who witnessed the discipline, was affected by it as well. I just didn’t know it because I thought the experience was just me.
There was a day when my sister and I were visiting a family member. The three of us were sitting in a very small kitchen. Very small! I was sitting across from the family member, and my sister was sitting in the chair in the middle. We were at the kitchen table. Someone was watching the news on television in the living room behind me. There was a story on the news about someone who had disciplined their child in an inappropriate way. My family member made a comment about kids need to get whipp’ns (may not have used that word) to help them learn not to do bad things. I said to my family member that I thought that I would have turned out to be just as good of a person even if I had gotten less whipp’ns. As I said that, a mist or fog seemed to be forming around the floor. As I continued to speak it rose up like a cloud creating a dream like event.
The conversation continued. The atmosphere was very relaxed. I felt safe talking about this sensitive topic. My family member said I think so too. If I had known then what I know now I would have acted very different. I replied, "does that mean you are sorry?" That family member said yes.
By this time the cloud like atmosphere was so thick the three of us could only see each other. the cloud started to shrink away as I looked at my family member and said it is OK because I have already forgiven you a long time ago.
The visit continued for a short time and I let everyone know that I had an appointment and had to leave. As I was walking out to my car my sister walked with me. That's a little unusual, but nice.
When we reached my car and we were out of earshot of the people in the house, my sister said to me Can you believe that our family member just said that to you? That they were sorry? I replied No not really but I'm really glad we had that moment. OK, here comes the part that really shocked me. My sister then said did you see the mist like clouds that surrounded us so that whole conversation was like a dream? My eyes got really big as I looked at her with such surprise and said you saw that too? I thought it was just me! She said no I saw it too.
That visit was awesome and I am so glad that it happened and was not a dream.

19 The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all [the universe].20 Bless the Lord, you His angels, You mighty ones who do His commandments, Obeying the voice of His word!21 Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You who serve Him and do His will.22 Bless the Lord, all you works of His, in all places of His dominion; Bless and affectionately praise the Lord, O my soul!
Further your Faith:
As this dream like experience comes to a close, I’m left with a question for you: is there anyone you need to forgive so your heart can be free again? What might change in your peace, your prayers, and your walk with Jesus if you released the hurt and trusted Him to handle what you can’t? The Lord gently reminds us that forgiveness isn’t optional for a believer—it’s a doorway to freedom. When we release what we’re holding against others, we make room for God to heal us, restore peace, and keep our hearts aligned with Him.

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
