The Birth of a Blog
I believed for a long time, longer than I care to admit, that I would author a book. When I spent a week at Mike Murdock Wisdom Training Center*, he encouraged everyone to write a book, among many other things.
Revelation 12:11 - New King James Version**
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
Since the word says that we overcome the enemy by the word of our testimony, and we all have a testimony, thus we should all write our story. We need to get our testimony out there and start defeating the enemy and taking back what was stolen. I’ve tried a million times, a million ideas and asked almost a million people to get my book going with no success. Not even a manuscript. God’s timing doesn’t usually make sense to me.
Then in 2023, at a lady’s luncheon at The Tabernacle Church, Erin Sabari, the Media Director, said to me, “you need to write a blog”. She even met with me outside of church to discuss. To prepare for this meeting, I researched blogging but during this meeting no commitments were made. She suggested I focus on activities in the area, especially for those who are new to the community. Thus, no progress was made. She and her family had just moved into the community and felt that moms needed to know what I know about inexpensive activities. When I would make suggestions about local activities, I would get a response like, “Wow, that is good to know”. There have been other instances as well.
My friend Tia B. has been an amazing part of this journey. She would listen to my Holy Spirit stories and help me with my “how to” ideas. I shared with her how many of my ministry teammates had once again brought up that my blog needed to get going. I asked what it should be called. Friends thought I should name my blog something that pointed to frugal activities and such. For me, I really wanted to show that Jesus wants to be included in all activities in our daily lives because He loves us. He wants us to be drawn close to Him so He can draw close to us.
I had the opportunity to discuss various blog-related ideas and share some stories with Tia. She was well-acquainted with my previous attempts at different projects and had a good understanding of my experiences. When I presented some new ideas and suggestions from others, she enthusiastically responded, "Blog? I can help with that!" Her immediate support was a testament to her unwavering friendship. Tia has always added quality to my life, especially during tough times. For example, when my mother passed away, she was there to guide me through the process, offering comfort and support. Her presence has been a significant strength in my life.
After the initial conversation, we started discussing various ideas and possibilities for the blog. During these discussions, I had an epiphany: "Perhaps after a year of consistent blogging, I could compile my work into a book of daily devotions." Tia's response was encouraging: "Yes, that would work." This collaboration not only enriched my blog journey but also opened up new creative avenues for me.
Finally, getting this journey off the ground, I struggle with thinking on and off all day about how "I can’t do this" or "I can’t get this done". “I don’t have time, and no matter how much I would like to be a leader, no one follows me”. In the end I realized it all comes back to my Lord Jesus doing it through me, and any success will be all His because I wouldn’t be able to do this without Him.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you all,
Ravi
